M: Okay, nice little exchange there.
M:一段很自然的小對話。

J: Yeah, pretty typical, right? So,let’s unpack some of that. That dialogue was full of good stuff for planning a quick dinner.
J:對,很常見吧?那我們來拆解一下,那段對話裡有很多可以學的實用表達,特別是用來安排臨時晚餐的英文。

M: Let’s start with that feeling Amy mentioned right away.
M:先從 Amy 一開始提到的那種感覺說起。

J: “Crave.” Right, “crave.” It’s a great verb. It doesn’t just mean you want something; it’s stronger. Like an intense, urgent need for that specific food.
J:「Crave」這個字,對,「渴望」。它不只是「想要」,語氣更強烈,像是「突然超想吃某樣東西」那種感覺。

M: Especially, like she said, when the weather triggers it.
M:尤其像她說的那樣,天氣會觸發這種渴望。

J: And Kevin’s response, “Same here!” That’s super common, very natural. Much quicker than saying, “Oh, I feel the same way as you do.”
J:而 Kevin 回「Same here!」也很自然,比「I feel the same way as you do」更口語、更快速。

M: Yeah, much smoother. Okay, then they talked about the restaurant itself. Two key things. First, the broth.
M:對,更順口。然後他們提到餐廳,兩個重點:第一是湯底(broth)。

J: the broth. That’s the liquid base, right? The flavorful soup everything gets cooked in. Crucial for hot pot.
J:沒錯,broth 是湯底,就是所有食材在裡面煮的湯,對火鍋來說超重要。

M: But then the real kicker: “all-you-can-eat meat.”
M:但重點來了:「all-you-can-eat meat(吃到飽的肉)」。

J: Yes, the magic words. Everyone knows what that means. Buffet style. Basically, unlimited servings.
J: 對,那是魔法字。大家都知道意思——自助式、無限量供應。

M: It’s a must-know phrase if you like value when eating out.
M:如果你吃飯很注重 CP 值,這是一定要會的片語。

J: Then the conversation shifted a bit… to customization, really.
J:沒錯,然後對話轉到「客製化」的部分。

M: Right. The dipping sauce. That’s a huge part of the hot pot experience.
M:對,醬料。這是火鍋文化裡超重要的一環。

J: And Kevin calls his mix his “combo.” That’s just short for combination.
J:Kevin 把自己調的醬叫「combo」,就是「combination」的縮寫。

M: People use that all the time, right? For coffee orders, pizza toppings…
M:人們超常這樣用,像是點咖啡、選披薩配料都會說。

J: Any kind of personal mix, yeah. Like his garlic, soy sauce, chili combo.
J:對,任何個人配方都行,像他那個「蒜頭+醬油+辣椒」組合。

M: And Amy mentioned sesame sauce, another popular one.
M:然後 Amy 提到「芝麻醬」,也是很受歡迎的選擇。

J: Then finally, you have the planning bits. Kevin says he’ll “make a reservation.”
J:最後是計畫部分。Kevin 說他要「make a reservation(訂位)」。

M: Booking a table. Standard procedure.
M:就是訂桌位,標準流程。

J: And Amy’s final line, “I’ll bring my appetite.”
J:然後 Amy 最後說「I’ll bring my appetite(我要空著肚子去!)」。

M: I love that phrase. It’s kind of playful, isn’t it?
M:我超喜歡這句話,有點俏皮對吧?

J: It is. It just means you’re planning to come hungry and eat a lot. It shows enthusiasm.
J:對,它的意思是「我會餓著肚子來吃很多」,也代表很期待。

M: Okay, so that’s the key vocabulary. What about the sentence structures? Any useful patterns we can pull out?
M:好,這是關鍵單字,那句型部分呢?有沒有值得學的結構?

J: We want you to be able to actually use this stuff.
J:我們希望你真的能把這些句型用出來。

M: So, how do we talk about what the weather makes us want?
M:那要怎麼用英文表達「天氣讓我想做什麼」呢?

J: Well, Amy gave us a perfect template: “This kind of weather makes me crave hot pot.”
J:Amy 就給了一個完美範例:「This kind of weather makes me crave hot pot(這種天氣讓我想吃火鍋)」。

M: Right. The pattern is: “This kind of weather makes me + [verb].” Super flexible.
M:沒錯,句型是「This kind of weather makes me + 動詞」,非常靈活。

J: You could say, “This humid weather makes me want to go swimming.”
J:你也可以說「This humid weather makes me want to go swimming(這種潮濕的天氣讓我想去游泳)」。

M: Or, “This gloomy weather makes me feel sleepy.” Whatever fits.
M:或「This gloomy weather makes me feel sleepy(這種陰沉的天氣讓我好想睡)」,都可以。

J: And Kevin had another great one: “Nothing beats a steaming pot in cold weather.”
J:然後 Kevin 還有一句很棒的:「Nothing beats a steaming pot in cold weather(冷天裡沒有什麼比火鍋更棒的了)」。

M: Yeah, “nothing beats…” That’s a strong way to say something is the absolute best in a particular situation.
M:對,「nothing beats…」是很強烈的句型,表示「某件事在某種情況下是最棒的」。

J: Like, “Nothing beats cold lemonade on a hot day.”
J:比如說:「Nothing beats cold lemonade on a hot day(炎熱的天氣沒有什麼比冰檸檬水更爽的了)」。

M: Perfect example. It really emphasizes how good it is.
M:完美的例子,真的能強調那種「太棒了」的感覺。

J: And the planning patterns. They were pretty clear.
J:那我們看「訂餐」這部分的句型。也很明確。

M: Amy asked, “Do you have a favorite hot pot place?” That’s your basic recommendation request.
M:Amy 問「Do you have a favorite hot pot place?(你有最喜歡的火鍋店嗎?)」這就是基本的「問推薦」句型。

J: So with just those few bits of vocab and patterns, you can basically go from feeling cold to having dinner plans locked in.
J:只要這幾個單字和句型,你就能從「好冷喔」變成「火鍋約好了」。

M: Pretty much. Talking about cravings, the food itself, the sauces, making the actual booking… it’s all there.
M:沒錯,從聊渴望、食物、醬料到訂位,全都學到了。

J: So remember those key phrases, everyone. “Crave,” “all-you-can-eat…”
J:所以大家記得這些關鍵片語:「crave」、「all-you-can-eat…」

M: And that useful structure, “nothing beats…” Practice using them.
M:還有那句型「nothing beats…」,要多練習使用喔。
