💡 先搞懂：為什麼「辛苦了」翻不出來

中文的「辛苦了」是萬用鑰匙：同事交件、下班道別、家人做完飯、司機把你送到——一句就通，它感謝的是對方付出的過程。英文沒有這把鑰匙，母語者是看場合換句，而且比較常感謝結果或對方幫的那件事：做得好就說 Nice work，幫了你就說 Thanks for taking care of that，看他累就說 Long day, huh?。直翻的 You worked hard 文法沒錯，但聽起來像主管在打考績，不像在感謝。

台灣人最容易卡的雷：① You worked hard.（像在評分）→ Nice work today.；② You are so hard-working.（在形容人的個性）→ Thanks for all your hard work.；③ 下班說 Hard work!（沒人這樣講）→ Get some rest, you earned it.

誇結果就是英文版的「辛苦了」，後面接 on ＋ 那件事更具體。

Nice work 和 Great job 對上對下都能用，不會有主管在打分數的感覺。

2. 下班道別 → Get some rest, you earned it.

英文道別沒有「辛苦了」，用「去休息」＋「你應得的」補上那份心意。

例：Get some rest, you earned it.（好好休息，你應得的。）
例：Go home, it’s been a long day.（回家吧，今天夠長了。）
例：Take it easy tonight.（今晚放輕鬆。）
you earned it 也可以用在放假、吃大餐：Enjoy the weekend, you earned it.

3. 別人幫了你 → Thanks for ＋ 動詞-ing ＋ 那件事

英文謝人要點名「那件事」，不是形容對方多辛苦。

例：Thanks for taking care of that.（謝謝你處理那件事。）
例：Thanks for jumping on that so fast.（謝謝你這麼快就接手。）
例：Thanks for staying late. I really appreciate it.（謝謝你留到這麼晚，真的很感謝。）
I really appreciate it 接在後面，感謝的份量就夠了，不用再加別的。

4. 對方看起來很累 → Long day, huh? / You must be exhausted.

「辛苦了」有時是心疼，這時用問句或 must be 表達關心。

例：Long day, huh?（今天很長吧？）
例：You must be exhausted.（你一定累壞了。）
例：Rough week? Hang in there.（這週很硬吧？撐住。）
huh 放句尾是美式口語「對吧」，語氣輕鬆不像在審問。

5. 對整個團隊 → Thanks for all your hard work, everyone.

hard work 當名詞放在 thanks for 後面就自然，別當動詞說 you worked hard。

例：Thanks for all your hard work today, everyone.（謝謝大家今天的辛苦。）
例：I know it was a lot. Thank you all.（我知道很累，謝謝各位。）
例：Couldn’t have done it without you guys.（沒有你們做不到。）

Right, in Chinese we have one phrase for this. Someone finishes a huge project, you say it. A driver gets you home safe, you say it. One phrase, every situation, no thinking required.對啊，中文有一句話什麼場合都能用，就是辛苦了。同事做完一個大案子可以講，司機把你平安送到家也可以講，一句話全通，完全不用想。

And English just doesn’t have that. There’s no single word or phrase that covers all of those moments. Native speakers actually pick a completely different line depending on the situation you’re in.英文就是沒有這種萬用句。沒有哪一個字或哪一句話可以蓋掉所有這些場合，母語者其實會依照當下的情況，換成完全不一樣的句子。

Here’s the reason, and it actually makes sense once you hear it. Chinese is thanking the effort, the process someone went through. English usually thanks the result, or the specific thing you did.原因其實聽了就懂。中文是在感謝對方付出的過程、熬過的那段辛苦。英文通常是感謝結果，或是對方具體幫你做的那件事。

Situation two, you’re saying goodbye after a long day. This one confused me the most. You cannot just say ‘hard work’ as you’re walking out the door. Nobody actually says that.場合二，下班道別的時候。這個我以前最容易搞混。你不能在走出門的時候只丟一句 hard work，沒有人會這樣講。

Instead you say ‘get some rest, you earned it.’ Earned means you deserve it because of what you did. Or ‘go home, it’s been a long day,’ or just ‘take it easy tonight.’要說 get some rest, you earned it（好好休息，你應得的）。earned 就是「應得」的意思。或者說 go home, it’s been a long day（回家吧，今天夠長了），或直接 take it easy tonight（今晚放輕鬆）。

Situation three, someone helped you with something, like they fixed a problem for you last minute. You say ‘thanks for taking care of that,’ or ‘thanks for jumping on that so fast.’場合三，別人幫了你，比如最後一刻幫你修好一個問題。你會說 thanks for taking care of that（謝謝你處理那件事），或 thanks for jumping on that so fast（謝謝你這麼快就接手）。

And you can add ‘I really appreciate it’ right after. Appreciate just means you’re genuinely grateful. That combination covers almost any moment where someone did you a favor.後面還可以加一句 I really appreciate it（真的很感謝）。appreciate 就是「感謝、感激」。這個組合幾乎能蓋掉別人幫你忙的所有時刻。

Situation four, someone looks completely wiped out. Maybe they didn’t even do anything for you, they just look tired. You say ‘long day, huh?’ or ‘you must be exhausted.’場合四，對方看起來累壞了，就算他沒特別幫你什麼忙，你也可以說 long day, huh?（今天很長吧？），或 you must be exhausted（你一定累壞了）。

Exhausted means way more tired than just tired, like totally drained. And if it’s been a rough stretch, you can say ‘hang in there,’ which just means keep going, you’re almost through it.exhausted 比累還要更累，就是整個人被榨乾的感覺。如果最近一段時間都很硬，也可以說 hang in there（撐住），意思是繼續加油，快撐過去了。

Situation five, you’re thanking a whole team at once. That’s when you say ‘thanks for all your hard work today, everyone,’ or ‘couldn’t have done it without you guys.’場合五，你要謝整個團隊。這時候就說 thanks for all your hard work today, everyone（謝謝大家今天的辛苦），或 couldn’t have done it without you guys（沒有你們就做不到）。

And notice something there, ‘thanks for all your hard work’ is totally fine. Hard work as a thing, a noun, works great right after ‘thanks for.’ That part was never the problem.注意一個地方，thanks for all your hard work 這句完全沒問題。hard work 當名詞放在 thanks for 後面沒事，這部分本來就不是問題。

The problem is the second you turn it into a sentence, ‘you worked hard,’ it suddenly sounds like a performance review again. Same words almost, but a completely different feeling.問題出在你把它變成一個句子，you worked hard，聽起來又變成打考績了。幾乎一樣的字，感覺卻完全不同。
