1. I’ve + 過去分詞 → 談經驗成果

用現在完成式講「做過什麼」，比單純的過去式更強調這段經驗延續到現在、還在你身上發揮作用。

例：I’ve led three product launches this year.（我今年主導過三個產品上線。）
例：I’ve worked on cross-team projects before.（我以前做過跨部門的專案。）
例：I’ve handled client complaints under pressure.（我處理過壓力下的客訴。）

面試官想聽「你做過什麼」，過去式只是敘述一件往事，現在完成式聽起來像這份經驗還在你身上發揮作用。

2. I’ve been + Ving + for + 時間 → 談資歷年資

現在完成進行式強調你「持續在做」這件事多久，講資歷、講興趣養成都好用。

例：I’ve been managing client accounts for four years.（我做客戶管理已經四年了。）
例：I’ve been studying UX design for two years now.（我學 UX 設計已經兩年了。）
例：I’ve been practicing public speaking every week.（我每週都在練習公開演講。）

這個句型特別適合回答弱點題——講你「持續在改進」某件事，比講一次性的努力更有說服力。

3. I’d say… / I would say… → 婉轉表達自我評價

直接說「I am the best」聽起來太自滿，I’d say 先軟化語氣再講出重點，母語者面試也常這樣講。

例：I’d say my biggest strength is problem-solving.（我會說我最大的優點是解決問題的能力。）
例：I would say communication is what sets me apart.（我會說溝通能力是我的加分項。）
例：I’d say I thrive best under a bit of pressure.（我會說我在有點壓力的情況下表現最好。）

不確定該多直接的時候，I’d say 是最安全的開場，聽起來自信又不會太浮誇。

4. In my last role, I… → 帶出具體實例

面試官想聽故事，不是形容詞；用這句直接切入一個具體事件，接著給細節跟結果。

例：In my last role, I redesigned our onboarding process.（在上一份工作，我重新設計了新人引導流程。）
例：In my last role, I managed a team of five.（在上一份工作，我帶領一個五人團隊。）
例：In my last role, I cut response time by 30 percent.（在上一份工作，我把回覆時間縮短了30%。）

這句是把「我很有經驗」變成「我做過這件具體的事」的最快捷徑。

5. What I bring is… / I’m confident I can… → 收尾總結價值

用來在回答最後畫龍點睛，把前面講的經驗濃縮成一句「我能提供的價值」，收尾特別有力。

例：What I bring is execution — I get things done on time.（我能帶來的是執行力——我準時把事情做完。）

面試結尾如果詞窮，直接套這句收尾，聽起來乾淨俐落又有自信。

Interviewer says, “So — tell me about yourself.”面試官一開口就問：「So, tell me about yourself」（先自我介紹一下）。Four simple words, and half the room goes blank.短短幾個字，很多人腦袋當場就一片空白。I’m Jason, and today we’re fixing exactly that moment, because it trips up almost every English learner I know.我是 Jason，今天就是要來解決這個幾乎每個學英文的人都會卡住的瞬間。

I’m Mary, and even hearing that question secondhand makes me nervous.我是 Mary，連只是聽到這題我都會緊張。It’s the most common interview opener in English, and somehow still the easiest one to completely mess up.這是英文面試最常見的開場題，但偏偏也是最容易搞砸的一題。

Today’s episode follows two friends, Ryan and Amy.這集要跟兩個朋友 Ryan 和 Amy 一起。Ryan has a real interview coming up, so Amy agreed to run a full mock interview with him this weekend — one plays interviewer, the other practices answering.Ryan 最近有一場真的面試，所以 Amy 答應這個週末陪他做一次完整的模擬面試——一個當面試官，一個練習作答。

Amy starts with the classic opener, “Tell me about yourself,” sometimes phrased as “Could you walk me through your background?”Amy 一開始就問經典題「Tell me about yourself」，有時候也會換句話說成「Could you walk me through your background」（可以說明一下你的背景嗎）。And Ryan does exactly what most people do first — he starts reciting his resume, year by year.Ryan 一開始就做了大家最常做的事——照著年份把履歷唸一遍。

That’s the real formula for this question — your current position first, then one concrete win with a number attached, then a quick line connecting it to why you want this exact job.這題真正的公式是——先講你現在的職位，再講一個帶數字的具體成果，最後用一句話接到你為什麼想要這份工作。

So Ryan tries again: “I’m a marketing lead now. Last year I grew our email list forty percent. This company is expanding overseas, and that’s exactly the challenge I want.”於是 Ryan 重來一次：「我現在是行銷主管，去年把電子報訂閱數拉高了40%。這家公司正在拓展海外市場，這正是我想要的挑戰（challenge）。」

Hear the difference?聽出差別了嗎？One sentence for now, one number for proof, one line for why — that’s the whole formula, and it takes under thirty seconds to say out loud.一句講現在、一個數字當證明、一句話講為什麼——整個公式講出來不用三十秒。

Next question, and this one’s brutal: “What’s your greatest weakness?”下一題超殘酷：「你最大的弱點（weakness）是什麼？」Ryan’s first instinct is the classic dodge almost everyone tries at least once in their life.Ryan 的第一反應，就是幾乎每個人一生至少都會用一次的經典迴避招數。

He says, “Honestly? I guess I’m just too much of a perfectionist.”他說：「老實說？我大概就是太完美主義了吧。」Or the other version people love — “I don’t really have any weaknesses.”還有另一個大家愛用的版本——「我其實沒什麼缺點。」Interviewers hear both lines constantly, and neither one ever lands well.面試官這兩句話聽到爛了，哪一句都不會加分。

That’s the winning shape — a real weakness, stated plainly, plus proof that you’re actively working on it.這就是最理想的答法——講一個真實的弱點，再加上你正在努力改進的證明。Honest and improving beats “perfectionist” every single time.誠實加上正在進步，永遠贏過那句「完美主義」。

Last question, and it’s the one everyone fears most: “Why should we hire you?”最後一題，也是大家最怕的：「我們為什麼該錄取你？」Or its cousin, “Why do you want this job?”或是它的親戚題：「你為什麼想要這份工作？」Same trap, dressed two different ways.其實是同一個陷阱，只是換個問法。

Ryan’s first answer is painfully vague: “I’m hardworking, responsible, and I always give a hundred percent.”Ryan 第一個答案籠統到有點慘：「我很努力、負責任，而且每次都全力以赴。」True, probably, but every single candidate in that building says the exact same thing.這些大概都是真的，但那棟大樓裡每個應徵者大概都這樣講。

That’s basically the STAR method compressed into one sentence — situation, task, action, result — without ever needing to say the word “STAR” out loud.這基本上就是把 STAR 法則（情境、任務、行動、結果）濃縮進一句話，完全不用真的把「STAR」這個字講出來。

A few more phrases make any answer sound instantly more natural.還有幾個片語，能讓任何答案瞬間聽起來更道地。“In my last role, I handled…” is a great way to launch straight into a specific story.「In my last role, I handled…」（在上一份工作，我負責處理……）是直接切入具體故事的好方法。

And if you want to signal real depth, not just one lucky win, try the present perfect continuous — “I’ve been managing client accounts for four years now.”如果想表達的是真正的資歷，不只是一次幸運的成果，可以用現在完成進行式——「I’ve been managing client accounts for four years now」（我做客戶管理已經四年了）。

When you’re not totally sure how direct to sound, “I’d say my biggest strength is…” softens it just enough without sounding unsure of yourself.不確定該講得多直接的時候，「I’d say my biggest strength is…」（我會說我最大的優點是……）可以稍微軟化語氣，又不會顯得沒自信。

And to close strong, something like “What I bring is execution” or “I’m confident I can contribute to this team as a strong team player” ties the whole answer together.收尾想要有力一點，可以用「What I bring is execution」或「I’m confident I can contribute to this team as a strong team player」（我有信心能以合群的隊友身份為這個團隊貢獻），把整段答案收在一起。

Notice how none of these phrases are complicated grammar — they’re just confident, specific framing, which is exactly what interviewers are listening for.你會發現這些句子文法都不難——重點是自信、具體的講法，而這正是面試官在聽的東西。

There’s a cultural gap hiding underneath all of this, too.這裡面其實藏著一個文化差異。American interviewers expect confident, specific, results-first answers, almost like a highlight reel of your own achievements.美國面試官期待的是自信、具體、成果優先的答案，幾乎像是在放自己的成就（achievement）精華片段。

In Taiwan, we’re often trained the opposite way growing up — stay humble, mention effort and attitude over outcomes, let your work speak quietly for itself.但台灣人從小被教的常常是相反的方向——保持謙虛，多講努力跟態度，少講結果，讓做出來的東西自己說話就好。

So an answer like “I worked hard and did my best” reads as modest here, but sounds vague and forgettable in an American interview room.所以像「I worked hard and did my best」（我很努力、盡力而為）這種答案，在台灣聽起來很謙虛，但在美式面試現場卻顯得模糊又容易被忘記。

It’s not about becoming a different person — it’s about translating quiet effort into one clear, specific sentence an American interviewer can actually hold onto.這不是要你變成另一個人——而是把默默的努力翻譯成一句清楚具體、美國面試官真的能記住的話。
